Profhilo Treatment Adelaide
Skin can lose firmness and hydration as we get older, leaving it looking tired or less supple than it used to. Profhilo is one of the standard options for improving skin quality without adding volume or altering your face's shape. Caroline Newman and her team have been offering Profhilo since it became available, and it remains one of the most requested treatments at the clinic. We'll talk you through what to expect and make sure you're comfortable before, during, and after your appointment.

Our Approach to Profhilo Treatment
Profhilo works well on its own, but we find it helps to look at the bigger picture first. Skin laxity, fine lines, and volume loss often occur together, so we'll talk through what's happening with your skin before recommending a plan.
Some clients come in just for Profhilo. Others are already having anti-wrinkle treatment for forehead lines or frown lines and want to add something for overall skin quality. If volume is part of the issue, we might suggest dermal fillers, chin fillers, or bioremodelling fillers alongside it. For clients wanting an improvement in skin tightening, hydration and skin repair, Rejuran (regenerative medicine) or collagen stimulants (skin booster) can compliment Profhilo well.
We'll go through your options with you.

Common Questions about Profhilo
-
Profhilo is a hyaluronic acid injectable that hydrates the skin and stimulates collagen and elastin production. It improves skin texture, firmness, and hydration over time. It doesn't add volume or change your face's shape; it's more about improving skin quality.
-
Most people get around 6 to 9 months out of it. After that, the effects start to fade, and you'd need a top-up to maintain results.
-
Profhilo uses a technique called BAP (Bio Aesthetic Points). There are five injection points on each side of the face: the upper cheek, nasal base, lower cheek, jawline, and chin. This approach evenly distributes the product and keeps the number of injections to a minimum.
-
It depends on what you're after. If your primary concern is skin quality, then it can make a noticeable difference. It won't lift sagging skin or fill deep lines, so if that's your concern, other treatments might be more suitable.
-
There's no set age. Some people in their late 20s or 30s use it as a preventative measure. Others start in their 40s or 50s when skin laxity becomes more noticeable. It comes down to what your skin needs, not how old you are.
-
The glabella, the area between your eyebrows, is considered the highest risk. It has blood vessels that connect to the arteries supplying the eyes, and if filler is accidentally injected into one of these vessels, it can cause serious complications, including blindness. The nose, temples, and under-eye area are also at higher risk. That's why it matters who does the injecting.
-
You might have small bumps, redness, or bruising at the injection sites for a day or two. It takes a couple of weeks to see results, and you'll need at least two sessions about a month apart. It also won't fix deeper wrinkles or volume loss. It's not designed for that.
-
No. Profhilo isn't a filler. It doesn't add volume or structure. Your face will look and feel the same in terms of shape, just with better skin quality.
