Common Questions about Brown Spots

  • Brown spots, also known as age spots or sun spots, are a form of pigmentation that can develop on the skin over time. They are often darker in colour and can affect the clarity and texture of the skin.

  • Brown spot treatments may include cosmetic treatment programs, chemical peels, and laser technologies such as the Alma Harmony XL Pro. The approach is customised to address discolouration and support healthy skin renewal.

  • Brown spots are primarily caused by sun exposure and the natural effects of ageing. Environmental factors and lifestyle choices can also contribute to their development.

  • Brown spots can develop at any adult age, particularly after sun exposure. Many people begin to notice them in their 30s or 40s. Suitability is based on individual skin assessment and goals, regardless of age.

  • Caroline Newman and her team have seen skin treatments evolve and have a wealth of experience providing thoughtful, individualised, and supportive care for brown spots and related skin concerns. They focus on providing a comfortable and safe experience for all clients.

  • The cost of treatment varies depending on the treatment type, the number of sessions, and the areas being addressed. Your practitioner will provide a tailored estimate during consultation to help you make an informed decision.

  • We use the Alma Harmony XL Pro with two different modes. The Alma Harmony ClearLift laser treatment utilises a Q-switched Nd:YAG laser (1064nm) to address various skin concerns like fine lines, wrinkles, pigmentation, and skin laxity, with minimal to no downtime. ClearLift works by creating controlled dermal wounds in the deeper layers of the skin top stimulate collagen production, improving skin tone and texture.
The Alma Harmony Dye-VL treatment is a non-invasive procedure that uses Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) to address skin concerns like redness, rosacea, and pigmentation. It works by targeting specific pigments (melanin and haemoglobin) in the skin, breaking them down, and allowing the body to naturally eliminate them. This results in a more even skin tone and reduced appearance of vascular lesions and pigmentation.
Both treatments have no down time and minimal-to-no pain.

  • We use the VI Peel. Which is a chemical peel designed to improve skin town, texture, and clarity by exfoliating the outer layers of skin. It includes a dual booster system that combats pigmentation with our hydroquinone and kojic acid lighten and brighten boosters, promoting rapid cell turnover. The process involves cleansing the skin, applying the peel solution, and then following specific post-peel instructions to maximise results and minimize potential complications.
